Funcom is seeking a Lead Animator to join our Oslo studio, working on a new open-world multiplayer game using the DUNE IP from Legendary Entertainment.

This is a position where the right candidate will have the chance to help define the animation pipeline and ensure our high-quality bar is realized.

Your expertise in the creation of animation will cover a broad range of key areas, including motion capture and keyframe animation for humanoids, creatures, vehicles and weapons. You will be required to be a strong problem solver with good technical knowledge of the animation pipeline, with managerial skills to guide members of the animation team.

 

In this position, you will:

  • Manage a team of animators and technical animators
  • Help drive AAA quality standards, establish guidelines and pipelines for animation
  • Hire, mentor and provide feedback to other animation team members
  • Liase with other departments and production for task deliverables
  • Anticipate and recognize potential conflicts or production issues and recommend solutions

 

We are looking for someone that has:

  • 5+ years of Animation, preferably with 2+ years of experience as a lead
  • Previous experience in the video game development industry.
  • Strong leadership skills, time and priority management
  • Expert knowledge of 3DS Max/Maya and Motionbuilder essential.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 & motion capture animation pipelines.
  • The ability to take direction from the Art Director and to deliver consistently on time.
