IT Operations Manager

The Funcom team consists of over 400 people located in 5 studios - Norway, the US, Portugal, Sweden and Romania. As part of Funcom’s ongoing growth, and completing a successful turnaround, Funcom is now backed by Tencent, the largest online gaming company in the world!
Now, operations department in Oslo, Norway needs a IT Operations Manager to be an integral part of the studio support team.
Your Mission at Funcom
As IT Manager at Funcom you will oversee our portfolio of IT services across all studios, enabling our large development team to make great games. You will work closely with the heads of studio to deliver on-prem IT services to everyone at Funcom, and with our highly competent Tools and Infrastructure team in managing and maintaining off-prem solutions for both dev-ops and live games at a large scale.
You have hands-on experience both with large Windows PC deployments and rack servers running linux. You have built your own computer at least once and wouldn’t mind replacing disk drives in a rack server if need be, but you know how to delegate and organize teams, and motivate and coach them to deliver their best.
Role specific responsibilities

- Provide secure IT services across Funcom Studios, both to our personnel directly and to our tools, infrastructure and engine teams.
- Procurement, management, and maintenance of on-prem server- and networking equipment
- Inventory of on-prem infrastructure equipment
- Manage local IT personnel across studios, developing and growing the team.
- Company-wide Software license acquisition and management
- Systems administration
- Monitoring and SLA management of all IT services
- Managing 2nd line of support for personal on-prem IT equipment
- Managing 1st line of support for infrastructure and tools

- You directly contribute to the quality of our games by managing the diverse range of computer- and networking equipment we use to develop them.
- You help make the team more productive by ensuring that IT services operate predictably according to fair SLA’s.
- You get to experience all aspects of game development first hand by getting to know and understanding the IT needs of all game teams across disciplines.
- You use your talent for understanding next-generation tech to help guide the company’s overall IT strategy.
We are looking for someone that has:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT
- Minimum 2 years management experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, can be compensated for with relevant experience or certifications.
In addition, the perfect candidate has:
- The drive, determination, and persistence to make things happen
- an analytical and solutions-oriented approach
- The ability to work strategically, and the passion to execute
- The ability to combine creative thought with a data-driven approach
- Both excellent proactive and reactive communication skills, with a strong ability to present insight and strategies to argue for your decisions and recommendations
- Passion for video games and the gaming industry
