The Funcom team consists of over 450+people located in 5 studios - Norway, the US, Portugal, Sweden, a newly opened Romania studio - plus an additional UI/UX hub in the UK. Now, our Engineering department are in need of an Automation Programmer to join our team in Bucharest, Romania
Your Mission in Funcom
We are looking for someone who is proactive, has a keen interest in playing video games, is helpful, and confident in their skills.
For you, this role will be all about understanding the automation pipeline, it’s objectives but also it’s requirements. Using your expertise, you’ll be maintaining existing scripts and pipelines that develop and grow with each iteration as well as using innovation to build and implement new features.
How you can have an impact in your position:
- Participation in automating the testing process at all stages of game development
- Working with logs, requirements, and tech documentation
- Creation and maintenance of test automation and script documentation
- Communication with the team on issues of requirements collection, functional analysis, and test results
- Assessment of priorities and deadlines for automation
- Take active part in collaboration with development teams.
- Automate various process that will enable production teams to isolate performance issues
- You will participate in the development of tools or in their conception
- You will work with all professions of the project to ensure a automation scripts respect user’s requests.
- You will maintain documents and support information for the scripts that you are responsible for
- Represent Funcom and the games at key industry events
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- At least 2+ years of experience in QA or QA related roles
- Previous experience in Scripting and Automation required.
- Experience in using Unity3D, Unreal or similar engines for test purposes
- Blueprints in Unreal is an advantage
- Experience with automation servers like Jenkins
- Experience with at least one of at least one script language (Lua, Python, Java Script …)
- Knowledgeable of various data formats would be an asset (JSon, Gherkin …)
We are looking for someone that has:
- Understanding of testing methodology, design, and principles
- Understanding of game development processes;
- Experience in maintaining and writing test documentation (test plans, test cases);
- Rigorous and methodical
- Autonomous and resourceful
- Being able to work with interruption or context changing
- To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The drive, determination, and persistence to make things happen
- An analytical and solutions-oriented approach
- The ability to work strategically, and the passion to execute
- The ability to combine creative thought with a data-driven approach
- Both excellent proactive and reactive communication skills, with a strong ability to present insight and strategies to argue for your decisions and recommendations
- Passion for video games and the gaming industry
Project/Role specific responsibilities :
- Support the development, implementation, and communication of automated tests
- Participate in sprint planning meetings
- Be the liaison between production teams and QA automation needs
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases and test scripts
- Maintenance for the automation framework
- Work closely with the Tools development team on troubleshooting issues as well as planning requirements for new tests.
- Identifying and implement potential points for automation
- Deploying coding and automation based on the agreed-upon methodology / framework
