From critically acclaimed The Longest Journey and the very first sci-fi MMO Anarchy Online, to brutal survival in Conan Exiles, our 27-year history has set us uniquely up for a journey to the harsh planet of Dune.
Due to the growth of our Community and Customer Support teams, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to lead our community team across offices in Lisbon, Oslo and Durham, NC.
Your Mission in Funcom
Our community team handles communication between the company and its customers and fans on several platforms, provide internal teams with crucial knowledge to develop and market our products, and support and promote content creators and other contributors in our amazing and growing community. They work with development, customer service and marketing teams daily to help and engage players across all our games, most notably among these Conan Exiles and, in the future, our new open-world multiplayer game using the Dune IP from Legendary Entertainment.
As lead for this fantastic group of people you will own the success and development of the community team and each of its members. You shall help translate the vision of the company, the games, and the team into strategy and action, and inspire and coach staff to personal and professional growth. You can rely on the team for much of the planning and execution but are welcome to partake in every aspect of the team's work. And you will work shoulder to shoulder with stakeholders across the entire company to ensure success for everyone.
Ideally you bring in extensive expertise in community management and/or support, team management, and leadership, and a solid understanding of game development and business. Due to community, company and team sporting multiple nationalities, international experience is a great plus, and strong written and spoken English skills an absolute requirement. A passion for open-world survival games fits in well, and if you already play Conan Exiles or other survival games that is just about perfect.

We are looking for someone that has:
- Experience (5+ years) in community management and/or closely related profession(s)
- Experience (2+ years) in team and personnel management and leadership
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- Strong understanding of communication across nationalities and cultures
- Understanding of game development disciplines and their interaction
- Understanding of the gaming market and business environment
- Passion for open-world survival games, and games in general
- Passion for the Conan and/or Dune franchises
This position is ideally located at the Funcom Oslo studio in Norway, but for the right candidate other solutions can be considered including other Funcom studios and remote work.
